Amanda Mailey, Founder and President

Connecting women-owned businesses to help them thrive.

In Fall of 2020, Amanda Mailey set out to identify and meet the women leading small businesses in the Pacific Northwest. She used Instagram to document her findings and amplify the women behind the goods and services driving the local economy. Ultimately, she brought the faces, of the fastest growing demographic of entrepreneurs, to the forefront and began to build connections across the community. By 2023, she built a community of over 500 women entrepreneurs.

Building Capacity for Women

Hi! I’m Amanda. With over 20 years of marketing and operations expertise, I help at-capacity women leaders, build capacity. Whether you are an executive director of a nonprofit or small business owner, we can work together for only a couple of hours to get you back on track. I’ve worked with hundreds of women across a variety of industries and the “I wish I could clone myself” is always a thing. Need help writing a business case, designing a new program, launching a new product, sifting through data to build insights, defining a roadmap or dialing in on getting more from your existing programs, tools and team, I’m your person. You can pull me in for as little as 3 hours to alleviate where you are stuck and then continue on your way. I do offer sliding scale rates too. We aren’t meant to do this alone. Let’s work together.

Uniting a Community

Prior to starting ALIST, I worked for a variety of leading advertising agencies advising senior leaders at Nike, Microsoft, Adobe, Visa, and Intel. My job was to listen to their challenges, recommend solutions to achieve their goals, scope the assignments, and lead diverse teams to get it done.

Directing across the full marketing mix, I became a skilled cross-functional leader who not only knew all the marketing levers, but more importantly how to connect the dots and plan for optimal performance. I also realized how much I love to create something new. Working with women who have agency is how I do that today. With each project, we continue to do incredible things together.

Since 2020, I’ve taken on special assignments as a senior strategic planner for women leaders in the education, banking, and healthcare industries — with clients including OnPoint, PSU’s Center for Women’s Leadership, OHSU, PeaceHealth and ZoomCare.

Kaysha Duffy, Director of Social Impact at OnPoint Community Credit Union

“I have had the opportunity to work with Amanda in several capacities, and the impact she’s made has been nothing short of extraordinary. Her grit, passion, and unwavering commitment to uplifting small business owners and fostering economic empowerment is unmatched. Her work goes far beyond transactional – it’s about building ecosystems where everyone has the chance to thrive, especially women of color who all too often get overlooked. She brings authenticity, resourcefulness, and a collaborative spirit to every endeavor which is evident in the growth her business, ALIST, has had in just a short while.

As a consultant, Amanda brings a wealth of expertise and a genuine commitment to the success of any project. Her ability to listen, strategize, and deliver actionable insights transformed the way we approached our objectives and initiatives.

Amanda is a changemaker and overall force for good. I am honored to have worked with her both with ALIST and as a consultant. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking a partner who brings expertise, passion, and a profound dedication to community growth.”

Sheena Dold, Program Manager at PeaceHealth

“I can't say enough wonderful things about Amanda Mailey. We engaged Amanda to help gather and define requirements to support the PeaceHealth digital marketing strategic roadmap and to help us fully execute several of the projects. She was thorough in her discovery, listening to the needs of the digital team but also making sure the voice of our stakeholders and patients were represented. She helped us find solutions to solve many issues and continued to keep us on track and focused on our goals. We had an aggressive roadmap but thanks to Amanda we were able to achieve a lot during her time with us. Any team would be lucky to work with her.”

Jessica Mole Heilman, Executive Director at Center for Women’s Leadership

“Over the last few years, I had the privilege of seeing Amanda in action with Women Supporting Women where she grew a community ecosystem of over 500 women entrepreneurs and small business owners. During the pandemic she was a beacon of light demonstrating what it looks like to put equity in business into practice. Her ability to invite people to invest in each-other while building community is all built in non-competitive practices and reciprocity. I have learned a lot from the ways Amanda disrupts the status quo in women’s business spaces by truly centering the visions and dreams of women of color without asking them to assimilate to dominant culture methods.

I’m proud to now be working more directly with Amanda as a Fractional Strategy Director at the Center for Women's Leadership. In this role, Amanda is working to build out our organization values into infrastructure and practices to get us beyond a start up mentality. We are fresh into this work and Amanda is already transforming the way we approach projects, mapping and planning. Our region is fortunate to have such a skilled strategist, coach, marketing guru and gifted communicator be dedicated to women’s success.”

Jo Davis, Director of Nonprofit Banking and Community Development at OnPoint Community Credit Union

“I had the pleasure of working with Amanda on two separate projects in 2024. Amanda consistently impressed me with her business acumen, strong analytical skills, exceptional communication and presentation skills and her ability to deliver insightful and immediately useful recommendations. The first project involved developing a capacity building grant program for local nonprofit organizations. Not only did Amanda save us a lot of time, she created the space for us to take our vision to the next level and helped us build a tangible and effective approach. The second project involved bringing Amanda in to facilitate a two day team retreat. Again, Amanda created the container to bring out the best from the group for us to move our goals forward. For both projects, Amanda helped us synthesize our ideas and intentions and successfully delivered her work on time, within budget and exceeded expectations. Amanda is creative, resourceful, passionate, highly knowledgeable and brings a unique and powerful confidence that would be an asset to any organization or project.”

In August 2020, Amanda debuted her first book, sidetracked, an honest portrayal of self-discovery reflecting on mainstream American cultural norms and expectations. Get lost reading her intimate thoughts as she struggles to heal by hitting the reset button. Using her own marketing expertise, Amanda built and executed a whole go-to-market strategy to launch the book into retail stores big and small across the globe. Her main goal was to inspire others with her story of starting again at 40 years old.
