The PNW Women Founders Calendar Benefiting WSW
Available for purchase is a 12-month calendar featuring over 100 PNW women founders photographed and composited together by local artist, Kateshia Pendergrass. Originally priced at $35, the calendar is now on sale for $20 and available to ship throughout the United States, 75% of the proceeds will go towards the WSW Community Fund, which funds grants and initiatives for women entrepreneurs.
This fundraiser is one of many ways ALIST invests in and connects women across backgrounds, industries, and stages of business. We appreciate your support as we launch this new project to celebrate the 4 year anniversary of WSW and raise money for 2025.
Mission
In 2020, women of color started 70% of all businesses in the U.S. despite receiving less than 1% of VC funding. ALIST started building the WSW or Women Supporting Women ecosystem in October 2020 as a response to the lack of support. Through the help of hundreds of donors and sponsors, ALIST has collected and distributed over 100K throughout the shared economy of 500+ women. Money raised is crowdfunded through goFundMe donations, grants received, sponsorships, and event ticket sales. As we kick off our 4th season of raising capital to serve our mission, we’re launching this new calendar as a fun way to spotlight, fundraise for, and hire more women. This project alone distributed 20K across 9 women owned businesses.
Vision
With Portland-based artist and photographer Kateshia Pendergrass, we’re embarking on our largest WSW project yet. Kateshia is a composite artist. Thousands of photos were taken over a 3 day period, but her keen eye selected, edited and created these inspiring images to commemorate this historic time in celebration of the many women leaders we are fortunate to have in the PNW. Seeing yourself in others, or mirroring, is extremely powerful, especially to those historically underrepresented in our region. The process itself was live art and the utmost care was taken to bring out the joy and beauty in each woman while also honoring their business.

Why this calendar?
-
The purpose of this project is to showcase PNW based, women-owned businesses together in the spirit of community and not competition. Of those photographed, 89% identify as a woman of color and the team found a creative way to include all who applied.
-
Each month we’ve thematically grouped business owners together in a fun and relevant way. Not only is the image of the owners inspiring to see, but their businesses will be top of mind all month.
-
Kateshia photographed and connected these women with fantastical imagery, reminiscent of artists Erwin Olaf, Vanessa Rivera, and Kristina Sherk. When you buy the calendar you are also investing in the artistry that is the calendar itself.
-
Women receive less than 2% of VC funding. New systems are essential to advance female entrepreneurs. 75% of the proceeds from the calendar will go to the WSW Community Fund which invests in women owned small businesses.
